A recent dosimetric study conducted by the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security for the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office of the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security compared the current line of X-ray research irradiators to several commonly used 137CsCl irradiators and suggested that the line of X-ray irradiators provided equivalent performance in terms of does rate, irradiation field size, and uniformity over the field. In addition, the depth-dose for the 320-kV X-ray spectrum was nearly identical to that of the 137 CsCl down to a depth in tissue of 4cm.
